Abby Shields has been a featured speaker at Focus on the Family's 25th Anniversary Celebration. She has spoken across the country at various women's retreats where she encourages people to seek "life that is truly life." She created the communication training program "Directionality," based on the principles of developing the attitude of Christ Jesus (Phil 2:5). Her work with a school system in Kentucky has been featured on NBC's The Today Show. She has been a columnist for two newspapers, where she has written articles on a variety of topics. She is the author of Little Bits of Wisdom, a book of tips for parents and kids on surviving the teenage years. She is the founder No Heart Left Behind Foundation®, which brings hope and healing to a broken world one heart at a time with the word of God and the love of Christ. Abby has been a wife to her husband Kerry for 38 years, and mother to her two children, Alicia and Stephen. In her spare time, Abby teaches a weekly women's bible study at her church in Covington. The above are all things that Abby Shields has done with her life but none of these accomplishments are who she is. What Abby wants you to know about her is her heart . . .her heart for Jesus! It is her passion for Christ that communicates biblical truths through scriptural examples and practical life experiences that causes her audiences to enjoy her enthusiasm and humor along with her authenticity.
Abby has many degrees behind her name but the one from which she teaches the word of God is her doctorate degree in life experiences. Life experiences like her struggle with depression, the death of a child, her husband’s disbarment from the legal profession and the subsequent loss of all material possessions that left her bankrupt both financially and spiritually. When Jesus was all she had, Abby found out that Jesus and the word of God was all she needed to have life that is truly life. It is this understanding that ignites Abby's passion for the message of the gospel and causes attendees at her programs to say:
"Abby's joy is contagious"
"Wonderful presentation of everyday life and issues"
"Abby has such a wonderful sense of humor"
"Her passion for Jesus is heartfelt!"
"Thank you Abby for reminding me to keep my eye on God and to see the
circumstances of life through His eyes."
"Abby is so real"I heard you speak at Peoples Baptist Church last Saturday and I just wanted you to know how very much I enjoyed it. The scriptures that you gave were an encouragement to me in this stage of my life. I have been struggling with some things; mainly the 20 year old in college wanting total independence and my 79 year old mother with whom I’ve reversed roles. She’s the child and I am the mother. It’s a fun thing, and all the while, I am going through menopause. However, the Lord is good and he will give grace and strength for each challenge. We had revival at our church (not People’s) last week and I attended every night. He was an OK preacher , but I got more out of what you had to say in the short amount of time allotted you on Saturday morning than I did out of the revival speaker all week. I pray the Lord continues to bless your ministry. May you be blessed for your labor of love!
Abby considers her life worth nothing unless she uses it for doing the work of God - telling others about the Good News of Jesus Christ. She prays that you will give her that opportunity.
